Dull needles

I started the Ganirelex on Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning. The splitting was fairly easy, I'll make a video before I'm done with it since there are none online that I can find.  I had been warned that the pre-filled Ganirelex needles were duller than the other ones and I found that out for myself this morning. I went to give myself the shot and the needle only went in halfway. I pulled it back out and jabbed harder and it went in all the way.  I burns and hurts a little, not a lot. I can't tell the difference between the room temperature one and the refrigerated one.

We were traveling today and I put my split one in a cooler with an ice pack for 10 hours. I actually put the ice pack in a plastic container and put that in a insulated lunch bag and put the shot in there, I didn't want it to freeze being right on top of the ice.

I am cleared to start my stimulation medications on Monday!!! I start at 600 units of Follistim for 2 days then drop down to 375, then add Menopur on Wednesday.

No new side effects so far, guessing that will change once the stims start!

First Ultrasound

I had my first estrogen level check and ultrasound this morning. I won't hear back from the estrogen unless its high.  The ultrasound looked good; no cysts. She had a little bit of a hard time finding my left ovary, apparently it was hiding!  My lining is thin. She said I probably will have a light period and I need to get that before I start the stimulation  meds on Monday.  Today was the last day of Lupron, I start the Ganirelex tomorrow; that is one that has to be split so that will be a new experience.
I mentioned to the doctor that the Lupron was making me a bit airheaded and she said the dexamethasone will do that too.

So far for side effects from Lupron and Dexamethasone:

• headache (mild and not constant, could be sinus but have had them briefly every day) 
• not sleeping well (I think this is the Dexamethasone)
• forgetfulness/memory issues/feeling like an airhead
• slightly more emotional (not a lot)

That is about it for now. Hubby is sick, I'm hoping I don't get it.   If my E2 level comes back good and my period starts I will start stims on Monday!

So far so good

No real news to share, everything is going along fine. I'm doing good with giving myself shots and have started to get into a routine with it. The Lupron burns for just a few minutes after the injection and I get slightly dizzy/light headed for about 30 minutes after the shot. Otherwise, no side effects so far that I can tell.

I go Wednesday morning for my E2 (estrogen) level check and ultrasound. I'm not sure what they are looking for in this ultrasound, follicles?  I'll update after that.

First Injection

First injection is done.  This was the first injection I had ever given myself so I was a little nervous but it went well. A week of lupron only before I go in for my baseline ultrasound and E2. I should start Ganirelex on Thanksgiving morning. I'll update again then.

This is the pile of meds that arrived in the mail today. You would think that $3,600 worth would take up more space, right? I think my brother summed it up well when he said "Holy Hormones BatGirl"  I start the Lupron tomorrow and will update then.
